Thought I'd present another High-Yield Savings Account - with a 3.5% interest. I work for ShoreBank (http://shorebankdirect.sbk.com/). In addition to knowing that your money is invested conscientiously (ShoreBank invests in low income communities and gives loans to people with environmentally innovative ideas) – it’s nice to know that it’s SAFE too! Be sure that your bank is FDIC insured, and also pay mind to other security measures. ShoreBank, for instance, has $2.2 billion in assets to add to its security.

You could just cut out alcohol altogether - no reason for it really. Waste of money - and in the long run the health impact will just cost you more. Thanks for making your budget public, this helps me out a lot. Between your blog and the InvestTalk blog (http://blog.investtalk.com)I feel pretty prepared to deal with my '09 finances.
