Wow, thanks for all the responses. There seems to be a lot of conspiracy theorists out there. I should disclose that I work for a major oil company, so my opionon might be a little biased. That doesn't mean I like paying high prices for gasoline.

The industry is so regulated, I can assure you there's no collusion going on between companies to raise prices. Ultimately, the oil companies are going to charge as much as the market will allow. We always have the option not to buy it.

I AGREE WITH WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE GAS PRICES. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED ABOUT 5 YEAES AGO. THEY SAY IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 10 YEARS , BEFOR THEY CAN GET ENOUGH ETHANOL FOR AMERICA, TO HALT THE DEPENDENCY ON FOREIGN OIL. WHAT IS THOS THING ABOUT 10 YEARES?
IT DOSENT MATTER, IF ITS DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICANS. THERY ARE AL GETTING FILTHY RICH ON US, AND THE THING ABOUT IT IS, THAT WE CANT DO A THING ABOUT IT. WELL WE COULD , IF AMERICA WOULD CUT BACK ON THE MILAGE PER WEEK, AND ONLY USE THE CAR TO GO TO WORK AND TO THE STORE. BUT IT SEEMS LIKE WE CANT DO WITHOUT OUR EXPWNSIVE VACATIONS, OR OUR YEARLY TRIP TO DISNEYLAND.
SO THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTINUE TO DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO, BECAUSE WE DONT FIGHT BACK. IT SEEMS LIKE WE RATHER LIKE TO PAY HIGH PRICES FOR GAS, AND THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS THIS. WELL I TIRED OF IT, AND THIS YEAR, IM STSYING HOME, WITH MY FAMILY, AND GOING TO THE LOCAL AMUSEMENT PARK.

Just reading some comment that people are posting. Wow Jay, you paid $40.00 to fill up your Jeep. I haven't paid that little in about 2 years. My fill up is costing me $80.00/week and that's just to travel to work everyday which is about 35Km one way. You guys say that you pay alot for gas, i live in Northeren Ontario Canada and just to let you guys on a little secret, we pay $1.10/litre, that's over $4.50/gallon. If this stuff was produced in Arabia or some other part of the world it would be understandable to pay that much, but it's dug up in our on country.

And as for the other comments i read. They have had technology that could permit less polution, better fuel economy and crap, but why is it not released? My first car had a carburator and did 35 miles per gallon for the same horsepower, don't try to tell me that with all the technology we now have at our disposal, that we can't figure out anything that does better then 15 miles per gallon... The governments are taking us for fools, they are fu**ing us up the ass and they are even charging us for the vaseline, and guess what? We are paying for it and will continue to do so...

Hurray for freedom...

There was some problem with a refinery a couple weeks back. I think it's still messing with the price of gas. Naturally, it will go up in price after something like that in a matter of days or hours and will take two weeks after the problem is fixed for it to come back down.

Looks like it could be a pricey summer travel season if it doesn't come back to Earth before it starts warming up. This was the first week that I paid over $40 to fill up my Jeep in a long time.
