Coupon Savings
Part of my new budget is to clip and use coupons. I got a weekend (Thur-Sun) subscription to the LA Times for $1.50/week for the first 6 months, and now every Sunday morning, I spend about an hour clipping and organizing my coupons. It’s been a month now, so how am I doing?
I’ve been shopping twice since I started. The first trip, after only one week of coupons, I saved $13. The second trip, three weeks later, I saved $24 using coupons. Not too shabby. For $6 in subscription fees, I saved $37 using coupons, for a net savings of $31/month. If nothing else, it’ll alleviate some of the pain of my bills. Still, it’s hard not to smile when you see this at the bottom of your receipt:

Fabulous job. are we keeping your name secret? Anyways, I’ll call you Foley….Rick Foley (manager of the ralphs). Anyways, great job! Don’t forget to check out CVS and the drug stores for good deals on different things too. (Sodas, chips, beer, etc)

Absolutely. I’ll touch on this in a later post, but I always check the drug stores for specials. Just have to be careful you’re saving enough to justify driving to mulitple stores to do your shopping.

Are we keeping your name under wraps?
Suggestion:
Since you are such an avid coupon clipper and receive those weekly flyers for markets, etc, what about posting some “good finds” and then also allow comments to put up additional savings. that way we can come here, post savings and then check out things too.
Like, Until 2-10, CVS has a sale on 12 packs of coke products 3 for $8. In the markets they’re now averaging around 4 bucks a case.

I’m trying to maintain a little bit of anonymity.
I like the idea about posting great deals. However, there are already a lot of sites out there that do the same thing. So instead of posting every great deal I come across, I think I’ll just post REALLY good deals I find.
